Game of Thrones: Conquest™

Android Police coverage: Warner Bros. has released ‘Game of Thrones: Conquest’ worldwide and fans aren’t happy

Game of Thrones: Conquest is a clone of the popular Game of War strategy game, and it’s not even a good one. Talk about a wasted opportunity on Warner Bros. part. They could have made something exciting and new with the GoTs property. Instead, they created this. What can I say, even if you are a die-hard fan of the books and TV show, this release isn’t really worth your time.

Monetization: free / no ads / IAPs from $ 0.99 – $ 99.99

ICEY

ICEY is something of an odd game. At first glance, it may look like a classic 2D sidescroller, but once you dig in you will realize that it closely resembles The Stanley Parable. You see, an omnipresent narrator is guiding your every move. The thing is, this narrator may not be being truthful with you. So it is up to you to figure out what’s really going on.

Monetization: $ 2.49 / no ads / no IAPs

Team Z – League of Heroes is your basic hero collection game where you battle against other heroes in a clash to control the world. Just like most hero collection games, you will be able to evolve and fuse your heroes into even more powerful players. Draconius GO: Catch a Dragon!

Draconius GO: Catch a Dragon! is a clear Pokémon GO clone, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad game. For those that live in rural areas, it may actually be a better one, as the monsters are a lot easier to find in unpopulated locales. Really what shapes my opinion on this release is the fact that it has quite a few in-app purchases that range all the way up to $ 119.99 per item. So it is clear what the developers have focused on. A kids game designed to take advantage of their poorly developed impulse control.

Monetization: free / no ads / IAPs from $ 0.99 – $ 119.99

Build your very own collection of winged horses, vampires, unicorns and other magical creatures. FunFair Coin Pusher

FunFair Coin Pusher is an interesting take on the many arcade games that push coins into a collection tray. The mechanics are quite simple, but the way the game has been monetized is pretty disappointing. As you would expect, this is a free-to-play release rife with in-app purchases. This severely deteriorates the fun you can have with the game, though if you can ignore them, there may be some casual fun to still be had.

Monetization: free / contains ads / IAPs from $ 0.99 – $ 129.99

You’re one well-placed coin away from the mega jackpot, finger twitching nervously as you refine your aim. And BOOM., she’s away. Another Lost Phone: Laura’s Story

Android Police coverage: Accidental Queens’ ‘A Normal Lost Phone’ was an awesome game, and now there’s a sequel

Another Lost Phone is the sequel to Accidental Queens’ first Lost Phone title. It is a more polished release than the original, but it still contains all of the phone searching mechanics that made the first so memorable. Mainly you dig through a virtual representation of someone’s lost phone, and it is your job to try and identify them in order to return the device. While many developers have followed this unique design, Accidental Queens has been one of the few to make the experience memorable.

Terra Battle 2

Android Police coverage: Final Fantasy creator Sakaguchi has released his newest game ‘Terra Battle2,’ but you can’t play it until 11:00 PM PST

Terra Battle 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Hironobu Sakaguchi’s popular tile-based RPG Terra Battle. Sadly it does not appear that the wait was worth it. Not only are the controls absolutely atrocious in the outer world map, but the long loading times in between rounds make the game almost unbearable to play. If those problems were not enough of a sign that this release was a rushed effort, the convoluted menu system that is never once explained to the player makes for a game that is an incredible chore to figure out the basic mechanics.

Monetization: free / no ads / IAPs from $ 0.99 – $ 79.99

Terra Battle 2 brings a completely different game-play experience, while preserving the highly-praised core battle mechanics in a fantastic epic RPG. The new world map lets players travel alongside their companions and allows for more strategic gameplay as you set up your formation before entering a battle. The countless encounters and farewells throughout the course of your heroes’ journey promise to be even more emotional and intense than ever before.

Teon – No pay-to-win ARPG

Teon – No pay-to-win ARPG bills itself as just that, an action RPG that does not contain any pay-to-win mechanics. Considering that the only in-app purchase is a $ 9.99 recurring monthly fee, it aligns itself with the monetization used by many traditional MMOs. While you can play for free, the areas you can play in will be limited, but at least this gives you a way to try the game out in order to see if you enjoy it.

Not only does this add a very original look and mechanic to the game, but it works a lot better than you would expect. While the controls can be a bit unwieldy at times, for the most part, they work about as well as you can expect of a touchscreen platformer.

ExoGears2

Fans of Sega’s Virtual On series will want to take a close look at ExoGears2: Robots Combat Arena. Everything about the game exudes a style that is clear in its inspiration. Sure, the game has a ton of in-app purchases, and it is clearly a free-to-play title, but the nostalgia is hard to ignore. Sadly the matchmaking is pretty dumb, which makes a lot of multiplayer battles early on pretty difficult.

Monetization: free / contains ads / IAPs from $ 4.99 – $ 99.99

World of Prandis

World of Prandis is your typical Asian MMORPG. That means there are plenty of in-app purchases and a plethora of mistranslations. The art style is somewhat pleasing, though a little bland. Sadly the story is uninspired, and the controls are a bit cumbersome when things get a bit hectic.

Actual Sunlight

WZO Games Inc. is a publisher that just popped up on my radar last week with their release of Little Red Lie. This week they have released Actual Sunlight, a game that offers a mixture of sharp observation and pitch black humor. Pixel Punchers

I first saw Pixel Punchers a month or so back but it must have been pulled from the Play Store due to an issue where it wouldn’t load. Well, it would appear that Pixel Punchers is finally back on the Play Store and available for all. As you can see from the screenshots, it is very similar to Nintendo’s PunchOut!! series. Lotto Eurovolley Poland 2017 – The Best Volleyball

I have to admit that I know very little about volleyball. Apparently, it is a big sport in Europe. So much so that there is a new volleyball game on the Play Store. It is titled Lotto Eurovolley Poland 2017 – The Best Volleyball and it contains every single one of the 16 teams that take part in LEVP 2017 finals. While this means very little to me as I have no personal reference, supposedly it is a pretty large tournament.

I suppose the main concern is whether or not Battlejack has enough staying power when compared to the deeper CCGs out there.

Mini Guns

Mini Guns could very well be a fantastic competitive multiplayer game, but seeing that it contains in-app purchases that range all the way up to $ 199 clearly means this developer is more worried about money than providing a worthwhile experience for all of its players. Shadow Warrior Classic Redux

Android Police coverage: DevolverDigital brings FPS classic Shadow Warrior to the Play Store

Shadow Warrior Classic Redux is a port of the PC version that goes by the same name. Essentially it is a remastered version of Shadow Warrior, a first-person shooter from 1997. If you are unfamiliar with 90’s era FPS games, well you are in for a treat. Not only is this filled with tongue-in-cheek humor, but the blood and gore are what really set it apart from the more toned down games you see today. Sure the graphics may all be pixel based, but that does not subtract from the violence whatsoever. You can pick up Shadow Warrior Classic Redux on sale today for $ 0.99. After 6 days at the sale price, it will go back up to its original listing of $ 2.99.

The definitive version of the cult classic shooter, Shadow Warrior Classic Redux, with two massive expansion packs. Corporations rule every facet of life in a near-future Japan and employ Shadow Warriors, one-man armies of unparalleled skill, to protect their power and forcefully remove all opposition. Old Man’s Journey

Android Police coverage: Old Man’s Journey rambles onto the Play Store for $ 5

Who doesn’t love a beautiful puzzle adventure game with a great story? Old Man’s Journey is undoubtedly one of the most polished titles in this genre. Not only is the artwork amazing, but the music adds such an fantastic tone to the gameplay that you are instantly immersed in the old man’s adventure. The only shortcoming I can find is the fact that this is a linear story that will not hold a lot of value for extra playthroughs. If that is not something that will bother you, I wholeheartedly recommend picking up Old Man’s Journey today for $ 4.99. The purchase is absent of any advertisements or in-app purchases. So once you have paid, the game is entirely yours.

Terminator Genisys: Future War

Android Police coverage: On your feet soldier, Terminator Genisys: Future War is on the Play Store

Terminator Genisys: Future War is an odd game. Not that the gameplay isn’t a familiar mix of strategy and base building, but more to the tune that this is a tie-in title connected to a box office failure, from two years ago no less. A game that is late to the party is only the beginning of its problem. As stated above, this is just a clone of the gameplay found in the all too popular Clash of Clans. Sure, there may be some interest in being able to play as the good or bad guys, but the constant wait timers and push for in-app purchases kills any of the fun that could be found. Terminator Genisys: Future War is obviously a free-to-play release rife with in-app purchases that range as high as $ 99.99 per item.

Terminator Genisys: Future War is a free-to-play mobile strategy game where the human Resistance is locked in a never-ending war with the machine army. Genisys is destroyed and Skynet is offline, but the future war is far from over. Engage in large-scale strategic warfare and rejoin the struggle between machine and man. Build your base, attack your enemies and pave the way to victory for your clan in tactical multiplayer. Android Police coverage: Sega’s ‘Ristar’ is the latest title added to the SEGA Forever game collection

Ristar is the newest classic added to Sega’s SEGA Forever collection. It is a side-scrolling platformer that uses a unique multi-directional control mechanic for intuitive navigation. Just keep in mind that this free version will be filled with advertisements and that HID controls are broken, forcing you to use the touchscreen controls, which are spotty at best. Hopefully, Sega can get it together enough to update their SEGA Forever title’s, but until then I would say it is not worth paying the $ 1.99 to remove the ads at this time.

Flippy Knife

It is not all that often that you see an original concept released on the Play Store. Most games clone one another’s gameplay without much thought, but Flippy Knife appears to have taken an original idea and ran with it all the way to the bank. The concept is quite simple, flip your knife so that it sticks into an object blade first. Performing this action, on the other hand, is pretty challenging. The cool thing about this core gameplay mechanic is the fact that each knife (and there are a ton of them) has its own physics. Throwing each one will give you a different feel of control, which should give the player plenty of reason to stay the course and unlock as many knives as possible.

Galaxy of Pen & Paper

Android Police coverage: Behold Studios new sci-fi RPG ‘Galaxy of Pen & Paper’ launches onto the Play Store

Galaxy of Pen & Paper is the latest turn-based RPG in the Pen & Paper game series. This time around Behold Studios has published the release on the Play Store themselves, most likely due to the fact that Paradox Interactive incited a lot of anger with Knights of Pen & Paper 2 going free-to-play, which resulted in a wipe of everyone’s save data. Luckily Behold Studios has made it adamantly clear that Galaxy of Pen & Paper will remain a premium title with a single upfront price of $ 4.99. This, of course, means that there are absolutely no advertisements or in-app purchases contained within the game.

Galaxy of Pen & Paper is a turn-based meta RPG about a group of players rolling dice in the year 1999. Create your own game master and RPG party, as they roleplay, explore distant planets in their imagination, fight weird aliens and save the galaxy in the era of dial-up internet and floppy disks.

NEO Scavenger

Android Police coverage: Post-apocalyptic survival RPG ‘NEO Scavenger’ just snuck onto the Play Store

If you are looking for a sandbox survival roguelike for tablet gaming, you can’t go wrong with NEO Scavenger. While it is compatible with most phones, the interface does make it difficult to play on smaller screens. Luckily NEO Scavenger provides a zoom mode, for those that do prefer to play on their phone. NEO Scavenger is available for free, though it is only a demo. The rest of the title’s content will be locked behind a single IAP of $ 9.99, which is ideal for those who prefer to purchase their games outright.

Play the acclaimed PC survival RPG on your tablet and smartphone. (Free unlimited time demo with IAP to unlock full version.) NEO Scavenger is a game where you must survive in the wasteland long enough to figure out who you are. Each turn, you must decide where to go, how to scavenge for supplies, and how to deal with anything and anyone you encounter. Choose your starting abilities carefully, because they and your wit are the only tools you have in the apocalypse.

The Revenge of Shinobi

Android Police coverage: The Revenge of Shinobi is the latest Sega Forever game on the Play Store

The Revenge of Shinobi is Sega’s latest Sega Forever release. It is the second game in the Shinobi series, where you fight and platform your way through 2D pixel environments and enemies. Being that this is an older game, it may be a lot tougher than people would expect. Seriously, this game is brutally difficult. This can be a problem, thanks to the imprecise touch screen controls and broken HID controller support. Luckily you can save the game when you like, which alleviates some of the challenge. As a Sega Forever title, you can pick up The Revenge of Shinobi for free, just remember that it contains plenty of advertisements unless you pay the single $ 1.99 in-app purchase to remove them.

Reap revenge in SEGA’s legendary side-scrolling beat ‘em up, now available on mobile for the very first time. You are Joe Musashi, a ninja out for revenge against the evil criminal organization ‘Neo Zeed’. They’ve killed your master and captured your bride, so now you must travel the globe to dish out ninjutsu justice to the crime syndicate. Master ninjutsu techniques and collect mystical power-ups as you fight your way through this retro classic. The Revenge of Shinobi joins the SEGA Forever classic games collection, a treasure trove of free SEGA console classics brought to life on mobile for the first time.

The Deep Paths

Boy, do I ever love turn-based dungeon crawling RPG such as The Deep Paths: Labyrinth Of Andokost. It reminds me a lot of the games I would play on my PC as a kid, which I am sure many of you can empathize with. This is a retro dungeon crawler through and through that is updated for the present day. That means plenty of high-quality art is included. You can grab The Deep Paths: Labyrinth Of Andokost for $ 3.99, and there are absolutely no advertisements or in-app purchases included with that acquisition.

The Deep Paths: Labyrinth Of Andokost is a first-person, dungeon crawling RPG, with traditional grid-based movement, and active turn-based combat. Players explore a vast labyrinth filled with dangerous creatures, and hidden treasures, to unravel an ancient mystery and deliver their city from harm’s way. Featuring rich, 3D environments with an old-school, retro feel, this huge adventure pays a modernised homage to classic 80’s and 90’s dungeon crawlers, such as “Dungeon Master” and “Lands Of Lore”.

Fighting Fantasy Legends

Gamebook adventures are one of my favorite genres when gaming on Android. They tend to have great stories as well as longer play times than most casual games found on the Play Store. This is why I was happy to see this week’s release of Nomad Games’ Fighting Fantasy Legends. It is based around the popular Fighting Fantasy gamebooks and features card-based role-playing mechanics mixed with roguelike elements. If that sounds appealing to you, then you can grab Fighting Fantasy Legends for $ 5.49, all without any worries of advertisements or in-app purchases ruining the experience.

Create your own adventures in a dangerous land of monsters, treasures and traps. From renowned authors Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone (co-founders of Games Workshop) and Nomad Games, Fighting Fantasy Legends is a role-playing card game set in the world of Fighting Fantasy. Travel across the land of Allansia with just a sword and some gold to your name and rise up to Legendary status. Play through the stories of three iconic gamebooks – City of Thieves, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain and Citadel of Chaos.

Realpolitiks Mobile DEMO

I have to say that you don’t often see grand strategy games on Android. That is why I was so surprised to see this demo for Realpolitiks Mobile. It is a port of the PC release, with a new mobile-centric interface. Despite this version being a demo, it does take up 3GB on your device, so please keep that in mind if you are looking to install it. Also, if you are looking for the full version of the title, you can pick it up on the Play Store at its own separate listing for $ 5.99. And if you are wondering what the gameplay is like, I would describe it as a linear real-time strategy game where your end goal is to achieve global domination.

Realpolitiks is a streamlined real-time grand strategy game that allows you to become the leader of any contemporary nation. Dive deep into the issues of the modern world, with its current geopolitical borders, using your country’s power and economic strength to engage in military conflicts and international affairs. Choose your own method of coping with other nations’ interests, unexpected events, global threats and various crises. Deal with the disintegration of the European Union, terrorism, the aftermath of World War III and many other real and fictional scenarios.

Touchdowners

Touchdowners is a few weeks old at this point, but it was not covered before on AP, so I decided to sneak it in. From the outset, this seems like a pretty simple game, and while it is the fact remains that Touchdowners is a whole lot of fun. You move by tapping the left or right arrow buttons on the screen. The entire time you are moving, your arms are swinging around with the ball. You can release the ball to fling it in whatever direction your arms happen to be moving towards, which is trickier than it sounds. Touchdowners is free-to-play, but it does contain advertisements. These ads can’t be removed, as there are no in-app purchases.

Touchdowners is a crazy physics based sports game where you need to grab the ball and touch it down in your opponents endzone. You control a team of three highly trained Touchdowners. Pass, wrestle and jump your way to the end zone then slam the ball to the ground. Play for glory in the career mode or top the global ranking table in arcade mode. Go head to head with a friend on the same device in 2 player mode. Can you become the greatest Touchdowner the universe has ever seen?

Summation

I can’t say that math games are my favorite genre. Luckily Summation makes the minimalist math-based gameplay pretty approachable thanks to the simple number swapping mechanics, though it does get tough after you play for a bit. There is even an endless mode for the brave. If you are not fond of math games like me, I still would say it is worth checking out Summation. And for those that love math, well then you are in luck. Just remember that Summation contains advertisements as well as in-app purchases that range up to $ 0.99 per item.

Summation is a minimalistic math game that will give your brain a workout. The objective of the game is to solve the puzzle by rearranging the numbers given to you. Sound easy? But can you get to level 100?

Kosmik Revenge Lite – Retro Arcade Shoot ‘Em Up

Kosmik Revenge is something of an older release on the Play Store, but this lite version was just released this week. It is actually one of my favorite Space Invaders clones on Android, which makes Kosmik Revenge Lite a great introduction to what is so enjoyable about the gameplay. Of course, the best part is, once you have it installed, if you decide you want to unlock the full the game, you can simply pay the single $ 1.49 in-app purchase.

Defend the galaxy with Kosmik Revenge, the fast paced space shooter, inspired from classic shoot’em up and updated with challenges, social features and advanced graphics now on your fingertips. Space Frontier

Space Frontier is an arcade game where you tap on your rocket each time you near the edge of each boosters different segments. This is done to drop each section at just the right time in order to keep moving. If you can successfully drop each one, then you will reach orbit. If you reach orbit, you earn coins, which can then be used to upgrade your rocket. So yeah, it’s a simple mechanic, but it works well and provides a bit of fun. Space Frontier is available for free with advertisements, and those ads can be removed with the game’s only in-app purchase of $ 1.99.

Blast off for the stratosphere with Space frontier, the addictive physics rocket game that your friends will want to play, but they can’t. It’s your phone, mate. Your mission is to launch your rocket as high into orbit as possible. Simple touches control when you release each stage in your rocket. Earn in-game currency from successful launches and spend it to acquire new parts and styles. Easy to play but hard to master gameplay means you’ll be coming back again and again for one more boost.

Brotherhood of Violence Ⅱ Lite

Brotherhood of Violence Ⅱ Lite is another lite version available this week on the Play Store for what is an existing older game. If you are unfamiliar with the older release of Brotherhood of Violence Ⅱ, it is a martial arts fighting game that is similar in style to Mortal Kombat. Sadly it does not have the same level of polish, but that does not make it any less fun. Brotherhood of Violence Ⅱ Lite is available for free, thought it does contain in-app purchases that range up to $ 2.99 per item.

Brotherhood of Violence Ⅱ Lite puts your fighting skills to the test with stunning 3D graphics, multiple fighting disciplines, and more than 400 ever evolving fighters that learn through artificial intelligence. Battle your way through 30 environments to defeat punks, ninja, Yakuza and more. Watch out for the Big Boss. He has it in for you and his skills are unmatched. Doc McStuffins: Baby Nursery

Disney’s Doc McStuffins: Baby Nursery is a doll collection and raising game similar in style to a Tomagotchi app. You simply raise your doll just as you would a real baby, which should appeal to young girls. There are in-app purchases in the game that range up to $ 2.99 per item, but it appears they are mainly for buying new dolls. Color me surprised that Disney did not overindulge and stuff Doc McStuffins: Baby Nursery with numerous IAPs like they do the majority of their children aimed releases.

Play along in Doc McStuffins: Baby Nursery, the first free-to-download Doc McStuffins app. There’s so much you can do to take care of your very own adorable baby dolls, with the help of Doc McStuffins herself.

Warpets – gather your army!

Warpets – gather your army! is a free-to-play creature collection and fighting game. You have both a story mode as well as a multiplayer arena battle section. Creatures can be customized, but this will take a lot of grinding. Honestly, Warpets – gather your army! is pretty similar to the majority of FTP collection and battling games on the Play Store, but at least its in-app purchases only go as high as $ 9.99 per item.

Create your warpets and get ready for multiplayer battles. Various war creatures, story mode & multiplayer arena battles, numerous abilities and upgrades, castle building and many other adventures are waiting for you. Subdivision Infinity

Subdivision Infinity is a mission-based 3D space shooter from Crescent Moon Games. It features over 40 levels of play scattered across 5 different locales, which should keep things fresh. While the graphics are outstanding, the default controls do leave a little something to be desired. Luckily you can change the sensitivity of these controls, which does help maneuverability. You can grab Subdivision Infinity for free, though it does contain in-app purchases that range up to $ 47.99 per item.

Subdivision Infinity features stunning graphics and tight spaceship game play. Beyond the story’s main missions, you will have an array of optional goals to keep you cruising, including space exploration, bounty hunting, and mining operations.

Knight Fever

Pixel art RPGs are a dime a dozen on the Play Store. So you may be asking yourself what Knight Fever does to set itself apart? Well, it’s mainly a lane-based defensive strategy game with adventure RPG mechanics, which gives you a sense of progression. Something that may sound familiar, but is quite different than your standard RPG. Sadly the translation is pretty poor, which breaks immersion. Knight Fever is available for free, though there are advertisements as well as in-app purchases that range up to $ 99.99 per item contained within.

Enter a world of swords and pixels… monsters and MIDI files… and embark on a glorious quest to become… A HERO? Create your party with a myriad of adventurers to choose from. Knight Fever is free to download and play. There is a hero in all of us.

So if you are tired of playing DragonVale and are looking for something new, but not too different, I would suggest checking out Merge Dragons! today. Just keep in mind that it does contain in-app purchases that range all the way up to $ 99.99 per item.

Star Tap – Idle Space Clicker

Sure, there may be a plethora of idle tapping games on the Play Store, but how many of them contain high-quality art? This is what made me take notice of Star Tap – Idle Space Clicker, as it definitely stands out in a crowd. The gameplay is exactly what you would expect, simply tap on the screen a few times to get things going, then check in on the app every so many hours to collect your loot and upgrade your gear. But while you are doing so, you can enjoy the excellent presentation that is provided. Star Tap – Idle Space Clicker is available for free, though there are advertisements as well as in-app purchases that range up to $ 104.99 per item.

It’s a long journey and you’re the only one who can help her on this impossible mission. Will Stella be able to fulfill the promise of a lifetime? WTF Game Of The Week

Fidget Spinner Heroes vs City Gangsters

I was really torn as to whether I should include Cipher Coders’s Fidget Spinner Heroes vs City Gangsters as a WTF listing. I personally feel that this developer should be stricken from the Play Store thanks to their constant barrage of low-quality spam disguised as games. Considering that they release these “games” under multiple studio names only makes the whole situation worse. The thing is, this release is so ridiculous in its design that the devs actually thought combining their bland hero spam game with the current trend of fidget spinners was a good idea. Yep, super heroes fighting with fidget spinners. Honestly, I can’t think of anything more WTF than that.

Are you ready for flying fidget spinner heroes? We present you an amazing combination of superhero with fidget spinner in Fidget Spinner Heroes vs City Gangsters. Our inspiring entry to fidget games craftily introduce you our very own fidget superhero who has superb skill of counterattacking enemies by throwing his powerful fidget simulator. SPACEPLAN

Android Police coverage: Spaceplan is out on Android a day early

Spaceplan is a new incremental tapping game for Android. It was originally released as a web-based idle clicker prototype but has now been refined and released on multiple operating systems. Instead of the short length of the original that revolved around exploring a single planet, you will now get to explore five of them. There is also an expanded story to go along with this new gameplay. All in all, not a bad update to a popular game. You can pick up Spaceplan today for $ 2.99, and there is no worry of any advertisements or in-app purchases with that purchase.

SPACEPLAN is an experimental piece of interaction based partly on a total misunderstanding of Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time. Use manual clicks and the passage of time to create and launch potato-based devices and probes from your nondescript satellite orbiting a mysterious planet. Unlock the mysteries of the galaxy or just kill some time in what the astrophysics community is calling the ‘best narrative sci-fi clicker game of all times’.

  • Fifteen starchy items to unlock, create, and blast into the vacuum of space.
  • Life affirming, silly story that will both captivate and help you kill time.
  • Reveal the secrets of five different planets across two different realities.
  • Banging soundtrack, as is customary in a narrative sci-fi clicker game.

Crosswords With Friends

Android Police coverage: Crosswords With Friends is Zynga’s newest “with friends” game

In conjunction with People Magazine, Zynga has released a new game in their “with friends” series. This time it is a crossword focused game titled Crosswords With Friends. For a release that does not allow you to play with your friends whatsoever, this seems to be an odd genre for their popular “with friends” franchise. Sure, you can play for a high score, but I would hardly consider that a way to actively play with any of my buddies. Loose definitions aside, the gameplay is solid, and there is a new puzzle to play every single day. Crosswords With Friends is a free-to-play title, so that does mean you will come across advertisements and in-app purchases that range up to $ 59.99 per item.

From the team that brought you Words With Friends comes Crosswords With Friends – the first daily crossword puzzle that’s written for today’s world. Battle Bay

Android Police coverage: Rovio launches Battle Bay, a game about boats instead of birds

Battle Bay is the newest release from Rovio Entertainment Ltd. Essentially this is a MOBA game that takes place on the high seas. Each arena consists of obstacles and weapons. You will use these obstacles to your advantage while firing your weapons at the opposing team. Sadly Rovio has fully embraced the free-to-play aspects we are all too familiar with. This means that there are indeed advertisements in the game as well as in-app purchases that range up to $ 99.99 an item. Considering the beginning tutorial video that explains all of the convoluted manners these IAPs are implemented, you can freely assume the gameplay is centered around nickel and diming the player over offering something that has a lasting and fun experience.

Face off against real opponents and own the waves in real-time team battles – it’s sink or win. A real-time multiplayer battle arena in your pocket. Choose a ship, slap some guns on it and take to the tides with your fleet of teammates to trounce live opponents in five-on-five contests of seafaring strategy and firepower. The thrilling competition of a team battle arena right on your mobile device. Join a fleet of allies and take on competitors the world over in bite-sized battles among the rolling waves – all while you wait for the bus.

Blitz Brigade: Rival Tactics

Android Police coverage: Gameloft launches Blitz Brigade sequel ‘Rival Tactics’ on Android

Blitz Brigade: Rival Tactics is Gameloft’s latest attempt at aping a popular franchise. This time they are copying the majority of mechanics from Supercell’s Clash Royale. If you happen to be on the lookout for a clone of this famous game but want fewer cards and no spells, Blitz Brigade: Rival Tactics may just be the title for you. It even copies the in-game advertisements and in-app purchases that range up to $ 99.99. This way any player familiar with this popular mobile strategy genre should feel right at home.

The most badass gun show on mobile just got upgraded with the latest in real-time tactical combat. In Blitz Brigade: Rival Tactics, deploy unit after unit in a fast-paced tactical game that lets you build an 8-man squad of doom from a pool of dozens of heroes, vehicles and power-ups. Android Police coverage: Daydream puzzle-adventure game Lola and the Giant comes to Android with a companion app

Daydream VR games are still few and far between when it comes to new releases on the Play Store. There does seem to be an influx as of late, but is it too late for a platform that is still difficult to find hardware for? Lola and the Giant is one of the most recent titles exclusive to Daydream compatible devices. It is a puzzle adventure game where you switch from first to third-person view on the fly. Essentially you are switching characters and their view of the world, thus opening up new ways to tackle a puzzle. There is even a companion app on offer if you would like a friend to join along on their non-VR device. Hungry Shark VR

Android Police coverage: Ubisoft brings Hungry Shark VR to Daydream

As I pointed out above, Daydream VR games have been trickling out as of late. This week Ubisoft Entertainment has released Hungry Shark VR as a Daydream exclusive. The gameplay is broken up into three separate mission types. You can either eat, race or rescue your fellow fish. You can currently pick up Hungry Shark VR for the upfront cost of $ 4.99. While the Play Store does state that there are in-app purchases included with this purchase, there are in fact none to be found as their listing on the store is a mistake.

What’s more immersive than being a shark under the water?? Being a very Hungry Shark™. Eat your way through a massive underwater environment, complete risky missions and free your fellow finned friends. The famous Hungry Shark series just got reinvented exclusively for Daydream. This VR arcade action game takes full advantage of the platform by offering complete freedom of movement in 360 degree underwater exploration, racing and hunting. This game requires a Daydream headset to play.

Citadel 1986

When you first look at Citadel 1986, you may think this is a lazily designed game that isn’t much different from the many platformers found on aging home console systems from the 80s. The thing is, this is by design. Citadel 1986 is a love song to the platforming classics of yesteryear. Of course, none of that matters if the controls don’t work well on a touchscreen. I am happy to report that they are quite solid. But you don’t take my word for it as you can try out the gameplay in this free demo of the first stage. If you do decide to purchase Citadel 1986, it is also worth noting that there are no advertisements or in-app purchases in the full version. At the cost of $ 0.99, you receive the entirety of the game.

The Citadel. Built in 1986 by a lunatic and left undiscovered, decomposing for 30 long years. You are its first victim. This full version of Citadel 1986 features all 37 areas contained within one huge map. Your purchase also helps me to write more games. Thanks : )

Darkside

There have been a plethora of twin-stick shooters released on Android. If you are unfamiliar with the genre, the king of this style of gameplay on the platform is Geometry Wars 3. Darkside is the newest release that looks to be a taking a swipe at the crown. It’s colorful yet dark interpretation of twin-stick gameplay has you hovering on the surface of a planet while shooting anything that comes near you. It is actually quite similar in style to the PS3 game Super Stardust HD. You can grab Darkside today for $ 2.99, and there are no advertisements or in-app purchases included with the purchase.

OK Golf

OK Golf is a minimalist golf game in the truest sense of the word. Not only does it take advantage of simple yet beautiful vector graphics, but it has whittled down the gameplay to its purest form. OK Golf takes advantage of a slingshot-like mechanic that should be familiar to any Angry Birds player. There are no clubs to worry about, you simply drag and shoot. As a fan of golf games, it is nice to see a pleasant looking release with gameplay that works well on the platform. You can pick it up today for $ 2.99 without worry of any advertisements or in-app purchases included with your purchase.

A Snake’s Tale

Sure, A Snake’s Tale has graphics that are not going to blow your socks off, but really, does that matter? For me, what it comes down to is gameplay, and A Snake’s Tale has that in spades. It is a simple puzzle game that requires plenty of logical thought in order to solve each of its 80+ puzzles. Luckily, if you get stumped, you can just move on to another problem, as there is no linearity to the levels you play. Of course, the best part about this release is that it has an upfront cost of $ 2.99 and it does not contain any advertisements or in-app purchases.

A Snake’s tale is a puzzle game about snakes in cramped places. Clear a path to get to the hole, eat some eggs along the way, and make sure to press all the buttons.

  • 80+ brain-crushing puzzles (okay, not all of them are “brain-crushing” hard)
  • 5 different environments, each with a unique mechanic
  • A whole ton of snakes
  • Procedurally generated art with a unique style

Her Majesty’s SPIFFING

Her Majesty’s SPIFFING is a point and click adventure game very reminiscent of the old Lucas Arts adventure games. It utilizes humor as a way to tell an endearing story. Luckily the humor is written well, so it works well. Really, the only complaint I have is how short the game is. You will be able to beat it in around two hours, which may not be worth the asking price of $ 3.99. I am happy to report that there are no advertisements or in-app purchases included with the purchase of Her Majesty’s SPIFFING.

Frustrated by the demise of this once great nation Her Majesty the Queen concluded that the elected representatives at Westminster were no longer fit to govern her United Kingdom. Having dissolved parliament, returning the United Kingdom to an autocratic government, improvements were immediate and wide ranging. However, ever the pragmatist, Her Majesty concluded that, given the complications Britain was facing returning to a position of power on earth, perhaps it was time to focus her attention elsewhere…

Race for the Galaxy

Race for the Galaxy is the latest physical boardgame to be digitally released on Android. It is a  2 – 4 player strategy game that works well with network multiplayer. The core mechanics is described as a phase choosing game. What this means is that you will input what you would like to do during each of the games 7 phases. Each player will also do this, creating a guessing game as to the best strategy needed to build your empire. What is really appreciated though, is that the game’s expansions are available through in-app purchases. So not only can you pick up Race for the Galaxy for $ 6.99 upfront, but you can also buy its expansions through IAPs that cost $ 3.99 per item. This way, when you tire of the core title, you will have a few extra options to expand its gameplay.

Race for the Galaxy is a strategy boardgame where players advance their empire by playing cards to build technological developments or to settle planets. Its core mechanic is a phase choosing game. Players secretly and simultaneously determine which one of seven phases they will lock in, all reveal at once, then execute the phases in order. Will you build an engine to ramp up VP generation on cheapo production planets? Will you invest in exploration and settle rare and valuable VP rich planets? Or will you rush a military conquest to cut off your opponents before they have a chance to develop their strategy.

Fishing Day

You would think Fishing Day would be predominantly about the sport of fishing. I know I did and boy was I wrong. While there is plenty of fishing gameplay to be had, the core mechanic of this title is about collection management. Essentially, this is a game of progression. You start out with low-end equipment, and it is your goal to fish for and collect as many items as possible. Once a collection of items is complete, you can then sell said collection for the ability to purchase better fishing equipment. Fishing Day is a free-to-play title, so that does mean there are advertisements and in-app purchases that range up to $ 0.99 per item.

Fishing themed collectible and inventory management casual game. Find fish and buried treasures from the depths. Sometimes you’ll catch a piece of junk. Topsoil

Logical puzzle games take many shapes. As a genre that does pretty well on Android, it can be tough to come up with a concept that is original in design and gameplay. Topsoil is a new logical puzzler that takes this criticism to heart. Not only is the design pretty unique, so is the gameplay. Essentially, you have so many moves you can make on a board of garden themed tiles. Your goal is to clear this board before your turns run out. While it sounds like a simple endeavor, it never truly is. What is nice is that you can try out Topsoil for free with a limit on your amount of turns. If you find this limit aggravating, you can just remove it through the game’s single in-app purchase of $ 2.99.

Topsoil is an original puzzle game where you grow plants and work your garden’s soil. Your goal is to harvest as many plants as you can before your garden fills up. Manage your garden by placing plants of the same type next to each other, then harvesting them together. The more plants you harvest at once, the more points you earn, and the more soil you turn over. If your garden fills up before your next chance to harvest, that’s game over. Keep growing and you’ll discover new seeds, tall trees, and friendly birds along the way.

Faily Tumbler

Faily Tumbler is a unique endless runner where you are tumbling down an exploding volcano. Your primary goal is to avoid any obstacles while trying to collect as many coins as possible. These coins will, of course, be used for ability upgrades and new characters. As you would imagine, upgraded abilities will allow the player to progress further. Like most endless runners, this is a free-to-play title. That means there are advertisements as well as in-app purchases that range up to $ 10.99 per item.

After we’ve seen Phil Faily test his luck on cars and motorbikes, we take a glimpse into the life of an Ancient Faily. While hunting for some dinosaur eggs you disturb a mighty volcano and are tossed down the side of the mountain. You are forced to keep ‘tumbling’ down the mountain avoiding obstacles and hazards in order to remain ahead of the pursuing lava flow. In this physics based ragdoll game you must manoeuvre your way through various hazardous environments such as lava, water and clifftops, resulting in a hilarious experience.

Racing Wars – Go! is a new top-down racing game for Android where you collect and upgrade 14 unique cars. There are 20+ campaign missions for you to complete as well. There is also an issue with lag, but it is fair to consider that this game is not officially released as it is still in testing. Racing Wars – Go! is a free-to-play title that contains advertisements as well as in-app purchases that range up to $ 18.99 per item.

Jumping Joe!

Jumping games on Android have been popular ever since Doodle Jump released all the way back in 2013. It would seem many have tried to imitate its success with differing results. Jumping Joe! is the latest jumping game to try and take a stab at developing its own popularity. More or less this has taken on a more hardcore bend as it resembles a twitch style platformer. When you combine that mechanic with the endless runner genre, you get Jumping Joe! and its assortment of unlockable cosmetics. This is a free-to-play release, so that means there are advertisements and in-app purchases that range up to $ 19.99 per item included with the download.

It’s a long way to the top (if you wanna hop ‘n’ bolt). Fly high in Jumping Joe, a vertical non-stop platformer so addictive that it will make you jump right outta the stratosphere. Meet Joe. Crash Club: Drive & Smash City

Crash Club: Drive & Smash City is a top down vehicular combat game. It plays out in an open environment and allows for multiplayer gameplay with a max 30 players at one time. The gameplay itself is quite solid. I just find the inclusion of in-app purchases that range up to $ 59.99 per item to be a problem. As a competitive game, this leaves too much room for players to just pay for better equipment instead of earning it through gameplay. Essentially, unless you continually pay for the best cars, you will be left behind when it comes to the game’s leaderboards. If you find that is not an issue for you, then you may just enjoy Crash Club: Drive & Smash City.

No races, no rules, no barriers. Drive anywhere you want, break everything and take down other drivers for points to top the leaderboard and rule the city. Massively multiplayer action with over 30 players live and real time in every city. Bike Club

Bike Club is an interesting title that mixes a balance mechanic with shooting targets. You will need to balance your bike on its rear wheel by timing your taps on the screen while also managing to shoot targets that are placed throughout the level by also tapping on them. Bike Club is free to download, but it does contain advertisements and in-app purchases that range up to $ 64.99 per item.

These loot crates have timers set up to either make you wait to open them or pay to open them. From this point forward you can see where the game’s mechanic is taking you. As you would expect there are advertisements contained in Smash Supreme as well as in-app purchases that range up to $ 99.99 an item.

Art of Conquest

Art of Conquest is aiming to be a free-to-play strategy game very similar to the Total War series of games. This means that the battle system in the game plays out in real time. While that sounds all well and good, once you deploy your units there it little control past that phase. This creates a situation where the gameplay feels as though it falls short of its inspiration. I suppose it is to be expected of a free-to-play mobile game. Here is hoping some fixes are in the works before it comes out of beta. You can install Art of Conquest for free but keep in mind that there are in-app purchases that range up to $ 99.99 per item included with the download.

Gladiator Heroes

If you were wondering if Gladiator Heroes was worth a look, let me preface this quick synopsis with the fact that it contains in-app purchases that go as high as $ 164.99 per item. Yep, that price is not a typo. Genera Games actually believe that their Clash of Clans clone is so needed in this flooded market that they are freely giving players an easier option to spend their money in a single purchase. What a swell group of people. It is also worth noting that there are advertisements in the game as well as the IAPs. Which you have to admit, their presence truly rounds out this abomination of a game.

Build, manage, and defend your territory, as you conquer new worlds and solidify your place in history. Construct gladiator academies, armories, infirmaries, government buildings, and arenas as you unlock a diverse map, with jungles, deserts, mountains, and volcanoes. Keybee Keyboard

Today’s roundup is presented by Keybee Keyboard, from Papalia Marco. Typing with a touchscreen keyboard can often be a task in frustration. Depending on the size of your screen and how much room you have available, it can be pretty difficult to get the accuracy you would like with a standard qwerty touchscreen layout. Luckily Keybee Keyboard looks to solve this issue with an optimized hexagonal design that allows for key sizes double that of a standard qwerty touchscreen keyboard. Despite the differing design, using Keybee Keyboard is quite intuitive. You simply start from the center of the keyboard where the spacebar key is located, to then make your way to all of the other hexagonally connected letters through the use of just one finger. The connection of these letters is based on their frequency, in this way you can type multiple letters more naturally without ever having to use two hands. And if that was not enough good news, Keybee Keyboard is completely free to use and does not contain any advertisements or data collection. So what are you waiting for, go ahead and grab Keybee Keyboard for free today!

We want to create the fastest, the most accurate and the most comfortable touchscreen keyboard in the World. The Qwerty on touchscreen is like using a steering wheel on a bicycle: just because I can turn it doesn’t mean that the controller should be like this. A bicycle needs a controller designed for it: the handlebar. A touchscreen needs a keyboard designed for it: Keybee. I want to give Keybee for free because the keyboard is the basic human – device interaction and because it is universal. It involves all People in the World, no matter the age they have, the language they speak or the place they live. And all the greatest tech innovations are free.

What Keybee brings on touchscreen:

  • hexagonal structure: the most space efficient structure in Nature which improves the key size in the same device area up to 50% and save background area on bigger screens.
  • more connections between letters and letter-pairs: improves the typing speed up to 50% and swipe friendly
  • ergonomics: typing in a natural way with one finger starting from the center of the screen that means no need two hands for typing.

Android Samba Client

Android Police coverage: Google releases Samba client for Android, adds Windows file shares to the Downloads/Files app

Sharing files between different operating systems can be a pain. Luckily Google has finally realized this issue and created Android Samba Client, which is a direct port of Samba client. If you are wondering exactly what SAMBA is, it is an open-source implementation of the SMB/CIFS networking protocol. Essentially it is a tool that allows computers to share files over a network. So if that is something you are looking to do, Android Samba Client is a fine choice that is offered for free and does not contain any advertisements or in-app purchases.

This application allows users to mount an SMB file share in their Downloads/Files app in Android. That way, users can access their remote files seamlessly from their Android devices, opening, modifying, and deleting them. This application is a direct port of Samba client which can be found at https://samba.org.

Flowx isn’t quite a new app, as it is actually a re-branding and 2.0 release of WeatherBomb. What we get with this recently renamed title is faster-tiled downloads, material design, and a graph editor. Currently, Flowx has no advertisements, but there are in-app purchases that range up to $ 4.99 per item. If you do buy the $ 4.99 IAP, what you will receive in exchange is an expanded view with 10-days of data, more map styles, and a graph editor. Basically, you receive the entirety of the app for a one-time purchase, which isn’t that bad at all.

Chatrandom

If you have yet to hear about Chatrandom, it is a randomized chatting site that has just released its very own title for Android. As you can imagine Chatrandom is a hive of villainy no different than any of the other Chatroulette clones. Frankly it is pretty surprising to see that an app for Chatrandom is available on the Google Play Store, considering the kind of video you are going to find within. While the service is billed as a place to chat with random people for free, the reality is that you will only be allowed to talk with random dudes. If you would like to chat with random women, that will cost you either $ 4.99 weekly or $ 17.99 monthly.

100 billion connections later, Chatrandom has revolutionized the way people meet strangers online. Launched in 2011 and used by millions of people every month Chatrandom is a powerful tool to instantly meet new people for video chatting, flirting, dating or just to meet people you otherwise would have never met. Chatrandom is easy to use and fun, get paired with a random person for video chat then just “swipe right” to connect with someone new. It’s that simple.

KReview

KReview is a simple app that allows you to check the validity of reviews on Amazon. You do this by sharing a product’s web address through the Amazon Shopping (or web page) share button to the KReview app. You then will be able to see how many reviews for a product are estimated to be fake through the Fakespot website that KReview utilizes. Essentially this app is just a shortcut to Fakespot, but it does save time and simplifies the task. There will be advertisements in parts of the title, but they are not that intrusive, and it allows KReview to remain free without any in-app purchases.

This app will use two popular Amazon review analyzer websites to provide you with some insight into whether you can trust that the reviews are real.

NYTimes – Chinese Edition

As groundbreaking as it is to see the NY Times release a non-English product, the fact that the majority of AP’s readers will not be able to read this app has left me with no choice but to leave it at the bottom of this roundup. For those of you who can take advantage of this Chinese version, it is worth pointing out that there are no in-app purchases. While there are advertisements scattered throughout the English app, if you consider how rife with IAPs it is, you may be better off using the NYTimes – Chinese Edition.

Android Police coverage: Sony Xperia Home beta is finally available through the Play Store

For those of you who do own a Xperia device, you should already have this launcher installed. Really, the only reason it is on the Play Store is to guarantee expedient updates. As you would expect, Xperia Home is available for free, though there are advertisements within, there are no in-app purchases.

Lenovo Theme Center is just that, a theme center for Lenovo Android products. Since it is only available for Lenovo devices, you will not be able to install it on anything else. Just like with the Xperia Launcher, Lenovo Theme Center’s listing on the Play Store is done out of interest in seeing the app updated quickly, instead of relying on carriers to push out system updates. As expected, Lenovo Theme Center is available for free, and there are no advertisements or in-app purchases contained within.

Lenovo Theme Center is a desktop landscaping application developed by Lenovo Team. You can easily change the phone theme, wallpaper and the way of screen lock to let your phone interesting and personality. AmpliTube

AmpliTube is a pretty neat audio tool that has 7 stompbox effects, 3 amps, 3 speaker cabinets, and 2 mics. Currently, it is still in testing, so there may be bugs or other inconsistencies when using it. It is also worth noting that AmpliTube requires an IK instrument interface, such as the iRig 2, which only works with Samsung Pro Audio on Android. So if you don’t mind a possibly buggy app that requires very specific tools (or you happen to own them already), then you should be happy to give AmpliTube a try. Just keep in mind that there are in-app purchases that range up to $ 99.99 per item.

Want to turn your device into the ultimate mobile guitar and bass tone studio? AmpliTube puts the power in your hands with a massive collection of virtual gear that you can use to practice, play and record with world-class tone anytime and everywhere. Build your own guitar or bass rig with up to 3 stompbox FX, an amplifier and speaker cabinet w/Mic. Just plug your instrument into your compatible Android device with one of IK’s instrument interfaces (like iRig 2), and get ready to be blown away.

There is also a pack of five more colors that can be unlocked with a single in-app purchase of $ 2.49. While it’d be good to have a few more colors for free, I can’t complain too much when the total cost is pretty cheap.

Cubiscape

Today’s roundup is presented by Cubiscape from Peter Kováč. From the outset, Cubiscape may appear uncomplicated in its setup. You simply need to get the ball to its goal. But once you dig in, you will see how devilishly well thought-out and challenging the puzzle design is. As a free-to-play release, you can easily try the game’s first 60 human designed levels at no cost. When you do finally run out of these free puzzles, you will have the ability to purchase all new level packs. There is even an endless mode (AI generated levels) with three tiers of difficulty (easy and hard being free as well). This mode will be appreciated more by the seasoned players that already know a lot about the game mechanics and more complex elements. The game has more than twenty active elements (either enemy or tile types) that are sometimes combined in a very peculiar way. And unlike most free-to-play games, there are no annoying advertisements present to interrupt your gaming. So no matter how you slice it, Cubiscape offers a premium experience in a wonderfully free package.

Original puzzle game with amazing gameplay and stylish graphics. Can you escape the evil cubes that are hunting you? Play for free now to find out. 60 free campaign levels. No ads. Free random challenges – endless supply of levels. Easy to play, hard to master.

OXENFREE

Android Police coverage: Oxenfree is an awesome point-and-click game set in the 80’s, and now it’s on Android

Point and click adventure games tend to work pretty well on the Android platform thanks to the simple control scheme. That is why I am always happy to see quality titles in the genre appear on the Play Store. This week we have OXENFREE, a port of the popular PC game that tells the story of a group of friends and their supernatural journey. If you are a fan of the hit Netflix show Stranger Things, OXENFREE pretty much has the same feel and atmosphere. If that sounds good to you, then you can pick up this release for $ 4.99 without worry of any advertisements or in-app purchases.

The critically acclaimed, mind-bending adventure comes to Android with custom touch controls. Oxenfree is a supernatural thriller about a group of friends who unwittingly open a ghostly rift. Play as Alex, a bright, rebellious teenager who brings her new stepbrother Jonas to an overnight party on an old military island. The night takes a terrifying turn when you unwittingly open a ghostly gate spawned from the island’s cryptic past. How you deal with these events, your peers, and the ominous creatures you’ve unleashed is up to you.

RAYSTORM

Android Police coverage: Classic shoot ’em up RAYSTORM is finally available on Android

For all of you shoot ’em up fans out there, RAYSTORM should be a familiar title. Originally released in the arcade, it made its way to the PS1 all the way back in 1997. While it received a port to iOS about five years ago, it finally landed on Android this last week. Despite the late arrival, RAYSTORM is one of the best shoot ’em ups ever created. Seriously, this is up there among Ikaruga, R-Type, and DoDonPachi. If that sounds appealing to you, then don’t hesitate to pick up RAYSTORM at its sale price of $ 7.99. And don’t worry, there are absolutely no advertisements or in-app purchases included with that acquisition.

RAY trilogy continuous delivery campaign. Sequel RAYSTORM is special price $ 7.99 until rolling out RAYCRISIS. TAITO is famous for arcade shooting games, and the RAY trilogy is one of its most beloved series. Beloved for its beautiful 3D graphics and exhilarating pace, the series’ second installment (following RAYFORCE) is now available in app form.

All That Remains: Part 1

Android Police coverage: Glitch Games’ newest creation, All That Remains: Part 1, looks fantastic

All That Remains: Part 1 is the beginning of a new room escape series from Glitch Games. It features a protagonist who is stuck in a bunker and must find a way to escape in order to help his sister. While the premise is nothing new, the story along with the gameplay is quite entertaining. Short of some shoddy voice acting, All That Remains: Part 1 is a solid effort worth the asking price of $ 1.49.

Waking up in what appears to be his father’s old bunker, Campbell Price is confused. Last night was pretty crazy, but not THAT crazy. How did he end up here? Hearing a familiar voice over a 2-way radio, your sister says you’ve been put in the bunker for your own safety. Fearing for your sister’s life, who has also been locked up for her protection, you must escape the bunker and find her before it’s too late.

Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow

Android Police coverage: [Update: Officially launched] Hands-on: Futurama Worlds of Tomorrow, a clone of a clone

Oh, poor Futurama. This is not what any fan of the TV series ever wanted to see done with the property. Think of a Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff clone with even worse gameplay and you will get the idea of what this title offers. As a pure cash-in on the IP, it is surprising to see that it was sadly sanctioned by the creators, seeing that they just did an AMA on Reddit promoting this junk. Frankly, everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. Obviously, since this is a free-to-play game, there are advertisements and in-app purchases that range up to$ 99.99 per item. Even for hardcore fans of the TV series, I would wholeheartedly recommend staying as far away from this title as possible.

The next epic Futurama adventure has finally arrived. Play with all your favorite characters, build your own New New York, combat against alien species and explore unfamiliar planets on a mission to save the universe. Buckle your seatbelts, blast off into space, and play the new Futurama game. Relive the show in this thrilling and hilarious game that will have you crying in tears. The funny never ends when you play as Fry, Leela, Bender or any of your favorite characters from the critically-acclaimed Fox series, Futurama. Is the future safe in your hands? Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire

Android Police coverage: Final Fantasy XV mobile spin-off ‘A New Empire’ is more pay-to-win junk

Yet another cash-in title, this time we have Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire. It is a clear Clash of Clans clone with a Final Fantasy XV skin. It is heavily geared towards constantly asking you for money and hits a paywall at level six. Essentially this game is everything that is wrong with mobile gaming and is completely unapologetic about it. If it were up to me, games like this would be illegal, but since I am just a humble writer, all I can do is voice my concern that Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire is pure garbage with $ 199.99 per item in-app purchases.

Be the hero of your own Final Fantasy XV adventure in the brand new mobile strategy game Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire. Build your own kingdom, discover powerful magic, and dominate the realm alongside all of your friends. Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire is a mobile adventure that lets you rewrite a favorite classic to fulfill your unique destiny.

2-bit Cowboy Rides Again

2-bit Cowboy Rides Again is a new sidescrolling platformer similar in style to old Gameboy games. It is a sequel to the original 2-bit Cowboy, which also was released by the reputable Crescent Moon Games. This time around it is up to you to round up escaped bandits who just busted out of jail. Frankly, if you are a fan of classic platforming action, 2-bit Cowboy Rides Again is a perfect choice that can be picked up for the low price of $ 2.99.

When the bandits bust out of jail, it’s up to you, Sheriff, to round ’em up. Journey across vast plains on your trusty steed. Dive into flooded town ruins. Take on mini missions to earn extra cash, then spend it on fancy hats and shiny belt buckles. Gamble at casinos and drink at saloons. The legend of the Old West rides again.

Pathos

Pathos is a stylistic tale about a child who is moving their way through the foster care system. The gameplay is similar to Lara Croft Go and its subsequent spin-offs. Where it diverges is in the fact that it asks you to flip your phone’s screen as a gameplay mechanic. This is something of an original concept. If that sounds good to you, then you can pick up Pathos for $ 2.49 without worry of any advertisements or in-app purchases contained within.

Pathos will take you on a journey of discovery by guiding a young girl, Pan, through an unknown world. Through the use of puzzles you will help Pan overcome her obstacles and travel with her through the strange lands. Perspective plays a huge role and offers you an interesting mechanic to play with. Gain friends, build paths and work around the mysterious Denizens.

The Quest – Hero of Lukomorye

The Quest – Hero of Lukomorye is a new stand-alone expansion for Redshift Games’s The Quest. While it can be accessed in the main title’s menu, there is no need to actually have The Quest installed, as you can just download The Quest – Hero of Lukomorye and play through its whole campaign on its own. If you are an old-school RPG fan, then I would recommend looking into this release. You can pick it up for $ 2.99, and there are no advertisements or in-app purchases to worry about.

An expansion by Zarista Games. The Quest – Hero of Lukomorye is an expansion to The Quest, a beautifully hand-drawn open world role playing game with old school grid-based movement and turn based combat. After enabling the expansion, you can explore new areas and adventures. However, if you don’t have The Quest, you can also play the expansion as a standalone game.

in:dark

If you are familiar with Downwell then you should have a good idea of what in:dark is all about. Essentially it is your job to descend down a shaft filled with enemies and obstacles while trying to acquire new skills that will help in your progression. The design of the game is quite pleasing, with its pixel-based graphics and the touch control scheme is intuitive and a pleasure to use. in:dark is offered as a premium release that costs $ 3.49 and there are no advertisements or in-app purchases included.

Memories become broken. The hero was drifting in the dark sea where various enemies and traps were waiting. While connecting the body and the bare soul with a single chain, I am just seeking what is behind this darkness. Beyond the limit of life to the bottom of dark water. What is waiting deep in the ocean ….

Mini DAYZ – Survival Game

Now here is something interesting. Someone has taken the gameplay from DayZ and created a top-down 2D recreation. The thing is, it retains all of the problems found in the main game. Hunger and thirst build up way too quickly, even after just eating something, you will soon starve. Then there are performance issues, where the game freezes or has a poor framerate. While the gameplay itself can be fun, a lot of work needs to be done to make the performance and overall experience acceptable. Hopefully, the developers have it within them to fix what is wrong here, unlike the devs for the PC game. Honestly, though, at least Mini DAYZ – Survival Game is free, though there are some advertisements found within.

How long can you survive in a post-apocalyptic world? Find out in Mini DAYZ now – an official pixel art rendition of the massively successful PC survival game – played by over 3 million fans. 100% free, without in-app purchases. Flick Kick Goalkeeper

Flick Kick Goalkeeper is a simple game of guessing which direction to swipe in order to have your goalie catch the ball. So sure, it may not be the deepest experience, but it can be a fun time waster. My only issue with it is the fact that advertisements are frequent and they can not be removed.

Thermidor 1789 JRPG – Demo

I would like to point out that Thermidor 1789 JRPG is, in fact, a demo and not a full fledged game. That means the content will be short. I am assuming the intention with this being released on the Play Store is to allow users a trial run with the gameplay. In that regard, it succeeds, as Thermidor 1789 JRPG has left me intrigued as to what the full game will offer. So yeah, if you are a JRPG fan, you can check out this demo for free and without worry of advertisements or in-app purchases.

This is a (very) early DEMO build of the first battle in “Thermidor” JRPG. We have decided to release this demo because we want to show to the android community how our JRPG Thermidor game could look like and play on mobile. Of course Thermidor is at a pretty early stage of development and the final version will be a lot more polished and packed with content.

Word Stars – Magic Puzzles

Word Stars – Magic Puzzles is a new word-based puzzle game on the Play Store where you are given a certain amount of letters that need to be used to create as many words as possible. Much like Boggle, but often with fewer letters on the board. Sadly, in order to gamify the $ 19.99 per item in-app purchases, there are powerups that will give you an upper hand. While the game is not multiplayer, individual challenges will be easier if you pay for a bunch of these powerups.

Word Stars is the best word connect puzzle with a new kind of brain workout challenge. Enjoy hours of free brain training in this incredibly addictive and brain busting twist on word search puzzle games. It’s simple to play, just swipe your finger over the bubble letters to search for all the hidden words… but there’s a twist. Grand Prix Story 2

Grand Prix Story 2 is a new simulation game from Kairosoft Co.,Ltd that focuses on building a successful racing team. Sadly it differs a lot from the original title in the series as it is now a free-to-play title that focuses on in-app purchases that happen to range up to $ 42.99 per item. So if you are looking for a competent racing team simulation game, I would recommend picking up the first game in the series, as Grand Prix Story 2 is just another run of the mill FTP release.

Sit back and watch your cars break speed records as they race to the checkered flag in this racing team management simulator. Pick any type of car you like and get busy designing your perfect machine. Train mechanics to bring out their full potential, and have them build you the fastest cars ever. Spot it – A card game to challenge your friends

Spot it – A card game to challenge your friends takes a competent pattern recognition party game and adds plenty of free-to-play mechanics ensuring the game is ruined in its digital form. Why Asmodee Digital felt this was a good idea I have no idea, as most of their games have a premium price and feature very little IAPs. Hopefully, this is not a sign of their future plans, as it is pretty disheartening to see a game ruined just for the money.

Gotta match ’em all. The game officially transposed from Spot It., the famous symbol-matching card game. In Spot It. Duel, match symbols to build combos with the help of your Dobble friends and his powers. Go through short, intense games against other players to earn the most points and get to the top of the leaderboards.
